Porter Ranch

In the enchanting realm of Porter Ranch, just a little distance away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles, lay ET Park, a haven where imagination came to life. Golden sunsets painted the sky as children frolicked, families spread out picnic blankets, and teenagers whispered secrets under ancient trees. Every corner of the park was filled with magic, from the iconic inch worm play bars to the fairytale-like play swings. For the people of Porter Ranch, it was as if they were living in a movie.

Yet, lurking in the shadows was a treacherous mountain, its insides boiling with dangerous methane gas, a ticking time bomb. On a fateful day, October 23, 2015, disaster struck. Well SS-25 exploded, unleashing a monstrous cloud of toxic chemicals upon the unsuspecting town. Homes were invaded with the pungent smell of gas, children felt dizzy, suffered headaches and nosebleeds, and the very soul of ET Park was tarnished with a thick black residue.

Fear and despair gripped the hearts of Porter Ranch’s residents, but as the saying goes, “In every darkness, there’s a ray of light.” And that light came in the form of Argos Scientific. With unwavering determination, Argos’s team swiftly set up advanced air monitoring devices around the vicinity of the menacing mountain. A beacon of hope, their community website became the town’s trusted guide, revealing the truth about the air they were breathing in real-time.

As news of Argos’s efforts spread, the world watched in admiration. People from all corners of the globe visited the site, extending their support and prayers to the residents of Porter Ranch. The unity and strength of the community became an inspiration for many.

When the calamity passed and the mountain was tamed once more, Argos didn’t simply pack up and leave. They became the community’s eternal guardians. With the help of the SCAQMD and UCLA, they built a formidable air monitoring network, ensuring that the people of Porter Ranch and the sacred grounds of ET Park would always be protected from unseen threats.

As years went by, the tales of Porter Ranch’s resilience and Argos’s dedication became legendary, a testament to the power of community and the magic that emerges when science and hope intertwine. And so, in the heart of California, a tale of bravery, innovation, and unity was woven, reminding us all that even in our darkest hours, there’s always a way to rewrite our destiny.

    Low-Cost Particulate Sensors

    Products and Services

Argos has developed an innovative low-cost particulate sampling system that can be used to identify local sources for particulate matter.  The systems are currently being deployed in the City of Los Angeles on street poles and are being installed in Portland, Oregon to assess the impact of local pollution sources on an Environmental Justice community. The ability to combine low-cost sensors with high accurate measurement results allows for the systems to be used for source identification and mitigation.
